Inger Jirby’s life has been as rich, dramatic and exotic as her art. Born in the north
of Sweden, in Lapland, she began painting as a young girl. Her first hero was Van Gogh, followed
shortly by the big colorists, Matisse and Bonnard. Later influences included Braque, Picasso, Milton
Avery and the abstract expressionists – artists who pioneered the emotional and spiritual power of
color. She is thrilled to be settled in Taos and surrounded by a wealth of varied landscape, subjects of her art. |
